ONGC approved five strategic projects involving a total investment of INR 7,327 Crore.

Chevron subsidiary CABGOC commenced oil and gas production from the Mafumeira Sul project offshore Angola.

The facility has a production capacity of 150,000 barrels of liquids and 350 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

PNGRB Amends Pipeline Transportation Tariff Regulations

December 2016

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board amended Regulations 4 and 5 of the Pipeline Transportation Tariff Regulations, 2010.

The amendments allow extension of the transitional period and introduce revised benchmarking principles linked to railway goods tariff structures.

Mangalore Mineral Pvt Ltd v Mahesh Resources Pvt Ltd & Others

Mangalore Mineral Private Limited filed a complaint alleging restrictive trade practices and abuse of monopoly powers by Mahesh Resources Private Limited.

The complaint challenged security deposits demanded for pipeline infrastructure and alleged anti-competitive conduct.

PNGRB held that consumers are not required to bear the cost of laying pipelines and that such network development obligations rest with the authorized entity.

Government Discontinues Subsidized Imported Gas Scheme

April 4, 2017

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas discontinued its subsidized imported gas scheme that supported stranded and underutilized gas-based power projects.

The scheme may be reintroduced in the future based on stakeholder requirements and market conditions.
